Load your six shooter and take aim at your enemy partner!
Mini Showdown is a fun first person shooter, where your phone is your gun. After you learn the basics, you will take on gun slingers from around the world. This is a totally free app and one that will keep you coming back for more!
When you first get the app, you will need to pick a server to play on and then create an account. You will need Internet access since you are playing others online. Once that is done, it is time to get started.
The app is broken down into the following sections:
- Arena– where you connect with others to shoot it out.
- Shop-where you can change your appearance.
- Training Area-where you can practice and hone your skills.
The game also comes with a daily bonus or reward. To claim it, you will need to shake your device to roll the dice!
A few words on playing. I tested the game out on my iTouch 5 which worked great. You might be able to play it on an iPad but it really is made for the iPhone or iTouch. Within the game you can change the view from portrait to landscape. The background sound is great but you can of course turn it off. When you make an account, you can use Facebook if you like. Overall game play is smooth but I did experience a few hiccups when connecting to the server to play.
In the training area, you can practice your shooting skills. To fire, you simply move your device to aim and then tap the screen to shoot. There is an indicator in the top left corner to let you know when you are out. To reload, you will need to flip your device, this opens your six shooter. To reload then tap in the empty chamber. This is the neat part of the game.
When shooting against others, you will need to be quick in aiming, shooting, and reloading! I quickly learned that I would not have lasted long in the old West!
As with most games, the more you play the better you will get. Even when you lose, you earn experience and money. As you progress, you can head over to the shop to customize your toon. You can change your appearance, jewelry but more important your weapons. One aspect of the game I have not mentioned yet is your energy. When you energy is out, you will need to rest to purchase recharges via diamonds. You can of course purchase more diamonds via in-app purchases.
As I said initially this is a fun, first person shooter. The game has enough variety and an almost unlimited number of opponents to play against to keep you wanting more. Practice makes perfect.
