Review:
Drop’n’Jump is a neat little game with lots of potential. You are a robot and your job is to escape from the rising water. You do this by jumping on the falling blocks. If you miss a block or get knocked off, you short circuit. This is not a bad game but it does need some improvements.
To control the robot, you use the on screen arrow keys to move left/right and then tap the middle button to jump. In addition to controlling the robot, you are in charge of setting up the falling blocks. The blocks are moving across the screen (left and right) and you simply tap on them have them fall. To survive you are going to have to figure out the best time and location to drop the blocks. I like this part of the game, definitely keeps you engaged. Unfortunately a good number of robots short circuited while I tried to figure out the game!
Like the endless runner games, your goal is to see how far you can go before you die. The game has two key components to it: tasks and upgrades. Tasks are different things to try and accomplish while you are playing. Some are Fly 500, Overcome distance, Overcome height. There are two types of upgrades: boosts and hardware. Both are there to help you survive longer. You can purchase these with the coins you earn in the game.
I like the game and find it fun to play, but right now it does need some work. A recent upgrade has made the game unplayable on my Droid X- something with the graphics. Also there is no real tutorial. The biggest problem for me was the text in the game. The font used to list upgrades and tasks is way too small. Even with my glasses on, I cannot read most of it. I contacted the developer and they are aware of the situation.
Drop’n’Jump is a cute game and fun to play. It needs some work but I am confident the developers will do what is needed.
