Android has grown from nifty widgets and fancy themes, to providing apps that help in areas health, lifestyle, business, and education. Though these apps somewhat help, and others are very grateful, some are still a failure for others. Some of the most popular of these apps are those that claim to help you sleep.
Sleep as Android is an alarm clock with sleep cycle tracker. It gently wakes you up in light sleep for pleasant mornings. Some of its features are sleep graph history, sleep deficit and deep sleep statistics, nature alarms, and lullabies.
The downside: It should be categorized as an alarm clock. Though it has lullabies, and sleep cycle tracker, it doesn’t help much in giving good sleep. It records more silence. You may know for yourself why you can’t fall asleep, but this app would not offer any more help than any relaxing audio.
It’s a beautiful sleep cycle tracker and alarm which also records your movements and sounds during the night. It wakes you up better each morning during light sleep.
The downside: Some reviews said that backing up deletes all records, alarm sets itself randomly, and calculations are wrong. Also, it runs even after you close it, so it consumes juice, making your phone slow, and will eventually kill the battery even before it alarms in the morning. Roughly only 30% of the sounds are recorded.
Audio app that plays more than 35 ambient sounds like thunder, stopwatch, ocean, sea, birds, rain, and crickets.
The downside: There is an annoying pause or ticks in between loops that can take your attention and make you feel even less sleepy. Some loops are also too short, making the loop very noticeable and plain disturbing. Imagine a four-second sound going on and on. Some sounds also start off very softly, then outrageously loud. Also, some sounds do not exactly sound like what they are, and who would like to listen to vacuum cleaner and dripping water?
An android music application based on electroencephalographic to tap the human brain.
The downside: On some devices, if you switch to a different soundscape, the previous would still run in the background. Some sounds are really not relaxing like rowing, paddling, and walking in the sand. The sounds are also not smooth and are too repetitive because loops are too short.
Deep Sleep is a tool that lets you listen to 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes of sounds of rain, fire, waterfall, ocean, wind, bird, clock, thunder, and others. It claims to provide 5 times of deep sleep based on an 8-hour sleep.
The downside: The sounds are okay but are not great. These sound loops are too short and noticeable. It also keeps on playing when you don’t want it because it’s not easy to close it unless you force close it. The ads also cover the start button.
Sleep Hypnosis is specially formulated for listening at bedtime. It allows you to unlock the power of your subconscious mind while you sleep.
The downside: The talking man is fast, annoying, and even creepy for some users. Some people are fine at first until after a few days, they develop gruesome nightmares and when they wake up, they feel so bad. The experience is like someone is trying to brainwash you, so you would really feel very freaked out. The man sounds a bit like a serial killer for a few, too. That is who creepy it is.
