Firemonkeys Studio, formerly known as Firemint, continues to improve its Real Racing series and it shows in Real Racing 3. This game goes into greater depth and detail in the graphics for the cars and adds more realistic factors. Some of these aspects include regressing your car’s overall condition every time you race, waiting for certain parts of your car to be upgraded or maintained when you stop by the Pit Lane area and racing on real world racetracks including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Suzuka Circuit. This game retained a lot of elements from Real Racing 2 including driving sleek models such as the Nissan GT-R and BMW Z4, the user-friendly and customizable tilt-screen steering, Driver Assist Controls and having a wide variety of locations and tracks to choose from.

However, this version downgraded a little by stripping the Quick Race and Time Trial modes, which were separate from the Career mode. But, Real Racing 3 compensates for it by adding classic American muscle car models, better graphics, a simpler, less intrusive HUD and the new TSM (Time Shifted Multiplayer) feature.

This new attribute enables you to race against other players without all parties being online at the same time. They can race one day and you can beat them the next day, or even the week or month after. The game creates a “time-shifted” clone, which will emulate their performance and skill to achieve the same outcome in your race. Adding the TSM feature is an excellent addition to this game, especially as it being a racing game. It produces a more realistic outcome with taking account for human error such as over-steering and running off the track and is much better than competing with the app’s A.I. opponents, which makes just about any sporting game less engaging to play.

Although Real Racing 3 has only one game mode, the Career mode, this game has an endless number of levels to compete in and a better selection of cars for you to unlock and drive. During your experience in playing the Career mode, you will advance from contesting in amateur races with Nissan and Ford stock cars to racing in style in Porsches and Bugattis while attaining an elite and legendary status. You will also find yourself competing in multiple types of races including, but not limited to, Speed Record, Head To Head, Time Trial, Elimination Racing and Autocross.

One of the game’s major downsides is its need for high-powered hardware for mobile devices. Because of the game’s superior, high-quality 3D graphics, installing this game might come as a disadvantage to smart phones with limited hard disk space and a subpar processor. Phones with the minimal capabilities I have mentioned previously might suffer by playing this game with choppy graphics and very, lengthy waiting times. You will need a phone with an optimal processor and an abundance of memory. I run this app with an LG Optimus G with 2GB of RAM and a 1.5GHz processor and it runs fairly smoothly. I would strongly recommend downloading this game by using a Wi-Fi signal as well as downloading additional updates. The game is 1.36 GB and one of the updates I have downloaded were more than 900MB large.

The app is surprisingly free to download in the Google Play store, considering Real Racing 2 costs a pricy $4.99 to purchase. You can also sync your Facebook, Google+ and Sina Weibo social media accounts to the game and compete against your friends on the aforementioned accounts for more in-game rewards. If you are a fan of racing games with outstanding quality, get Real Racing 3 today.
