Put your spellcheck to the test in this game of separating correctly spelled words from misspelled words.
If you have a way with words or consider yourself the “Count of correctness”, then Wellwrite is the perfect game for you. On Wellwrite, you will be shown a series of 20 words and you will have to determine which spelling of the word is correct. At the end of each game, the app will give you your final score and a letter grade ranging from A through F (F is labeled “E” in the game), followed by a review of the correct spelling and definitions per Collins Dictionary of the words you guessed incorrectly.
This game has two game modes: a single-player practice mode and a pass-and-play two-player mode. If you want more of a challenge instead playing the same default list of words, you can purchase two more word packs for $1.14 USD each. The More Words expansion packs will add at least 300 words and more difficulty category levels, from schoolchildren to Winner’s words, to your word database.
The Settings menu gives you the options to choose one of three background soundtracks, the length of the time interval for the answer display, the font within the game, the mute control for the soundtrack and sound effects and the “hidden choice” feature, which can only be activated in the two-player mode and hides the first player’s answer from their opponent.
Wellwrite is a very impressive word game that sets itself apart from other, bland, no-name generic games. This game has a very simple, but challenging and thought-provoking premise considering how many commonly misspelled words are used for the base set. Wellwrite is the ideal game for anyone who wants to improve or test his or her knowledge of spelling and vocabulary, or who is simply a word game connoisseur.
Aside from the word list, two of the best aspects of Wellwrite are the extra “none of the above” and “both” multiple-choice answers in some of the questions and the relaxing in-game soundtracks. The game has a collection of three smooth jazz soundtracks: “The Waltz”, “It Is Older Than I” and “A Special Train”. The calm, soothing music selection complements the user-friendly, untimed gameplay, which also makes this game fun to play if you are having a stressful day or just want to relax and unwind.
The one improvement I would make to this game is adding a five-second answer time limit option for users who want to play a more intense game. Other than that, Wellwrite is a well-developed game that is useful for people of all ages. This app is free to download in the Google Play and takes up about 9MB of space on your phone. If you want to remove the ads from the app, it will cost you an additional $1.14 USD. As a bonus, Ally Team, the developers of this app, has also created an animated, customizable, interactive wallpaper with vocabulary words and floating bubbles you can pop. This Wellwrite Live wallpaper is also free to download in the Google Play store.
