Gluten is a protein in grass-type grains such as barley, wheat and rye. It is in products like bread, pasta and crackers, but can also turn up in unexpected places, like certain brands of chocolate, deli meats, vitamins, and even some kinds of toothpaste. An estimated 1 in 141 Americans struggle with an intolerance to gluten, also known as Celiac Disease, and yet 83% of those are either undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.

“Going gluten-free is a great way to add healthful ingredients into your cooking, such as buckwheat, millet, quinoa and more,” says iCookbook™ Editor and Registered Dietitian Allison Zalay. “These nutritious high-fiber grains are good for anyone as they have shown to help combat chronic diseases, like heart disease, assist in weight control and of course, manage Celiac Disease and gluten sensitivities.”

Every month, new recipes will also be added to the app as a free download, allowing users to update and expand their collection. Additional premium recipe packages will be available for purchase from the Gluten-Free Recipes® in-app store, making it easy for users to stick to a gluten-free lifestyle.

[Editor’s note: I got a copy to review and I must say I am very impressed with the app. Full color photos, the ability to take notes, share, print, and shop for items is a really neat. You can also create your own recipe box, setup meal builder, and then go online and get more recipes, make this app well worth the money and a great resource for those that need gluten free foods. ]
