The Island Castaway: Lost World is the third game in this “series” from G5 Entertainment. This new game is a free-to-play title. It’s a new adventure with a new story line, but some characters, game mechanics, etc. will be familiar to players who have tried the previous Island Castways. The Island: Castaway 2 is more like a prequel to the story. You travel back in time to uncover the history of the island years before the original castaways (in The Island: Castaway 1) landed. The developer has also informed me that The Island Castaway: Lost World will be regularly updated.
About the game:
After a shipwreck, your main goal is survival. First you must step up and become the leader of the castaways to prevent chaos and ensure everyone’s well-being. To provide reliable food sources for your group, build a fish farm to catch eels, a quail farm to cultivate poultry and a crab farm to trap shellfish. Also create a clay pit and a liana farm to source the building materials needed for shelters. Track down rare plants for your magic potions, and be mindful about protection while exploring the island. Befriend the natives and learn to cook all kinds of local cuisine.
Some features:
- Over 260 challenging quests to complete
- 19 types of resources to prep and store
- 13 original and engaging characters to meet
- 11 delicious native dishes to master
- Five magic potions to concoct: protective, transfer, speed, immortality and spirit protection
- Five farms to build: a fish farm, crab farm, clay pit, liana farm and quail farm
Gameplay:
The game is pretty fun on the iPad. I found the graphics and game inteface nicely setup and easy to follow. You basically have a set of missions to complete which are setup in story format- meaning you start in Chapter 1 and go from there. You will need talk to people, collect and build items, and explore the island. There is a brief tutorial section if you need help. The island map is covered in clouds and as you explore new areas more of the map will appear. I really appreciate that you simple tap on the screen to move your character. The dialog between the character seems to slow the game down some but you can click through it to speed it up. I have not yet finished the game but it is definitely a game you can play for a few minutes here and there to work your way through the game .
There is a lot to do in the game and the developer says more content is to come. So if you enjoy free to play adventure type games, I would give The Island Castaway: Lost World a try.
