Welcome to the Roman circus! Qvadriga is a turn-based tactical game of chariot racing in Ancient Rome.
The game has two main modes: Single Race and Campaign mode. When you play you will chose between 6 different factions to race for: Russata, Albata, Veneta, Praesina, Aurata, and Purpura. Each will give you a different set of skills that you can use and upgrade as you race. The game also allows you to chose your difficulty settings. I would recommend doing some single races before attempting a campaign. I got run over during my first race!
The game provides plenty of explanation of things. The How to Play section is very well done- it explains the various upgrades you can use, how to monitor your status during the race, the 19 different orders you can give while racing, Campaign Mode and finally some advice on how to succeed. I found the text a bit hard to read based on its size and the background color. I could not pinch to zoom here either.
In the Campaign Mode, your goal is to race in the Circus Maxmius but you first must start in smaller circuses and build your wealth, fame, and skills.
After being killed numerous times I have come to find out that chariot racing is tough. Qvadriga is definitely a different game and a nice change from the traditional turn-based games that I have played. The graphics are not super high resolution, this game is really all about figuring out how to race your chariot and win. There are different types of races, with different opponents; this is a game that will frustrate but challenge you.
