A solid puzzle game that will exercise your brain.
So what the heck is a Nonogram? Here is what Wikipedia has to say:
“Nonograms are picture logic puzzles in which cells in a grid must be colored or left blank according to numbers at the side of the grid to reveal a hidden picture. In this puzzle type, the numbers are a form of discrete tomography that measures how many unbroken lines of filled-in squares there are in any given row or column.”
I have seen these puzzles before but have not played them very much. This type of puzzle can be challenging and one that might take you some time to learn.
Well Let’s IQ Nongram is a neat app from Let’sIQ that has quite a bit packed into it. Now, it is a free app that gives you about 50 puzzles and the ability to get more via in-app purchases. You can also download puzzles that others have created.
For those new to this type of puzzle, the app provides plenty of “how to” information. There is not a walk through tutorial or video, which would be helpful, but the Rules section is well written and shows numerous examples. As you progress and become an expert, you should look over the Solution Technique section which provides some very indepth explanations.
The nonograms are broken up into two sections: B&W (black and white puzzles) and Color. The rules are simliar to both. Also the puzzles are broken up into different size grids. Enough of the details, how about the game?
Playing these puzzles really got my brain working. This is a game (at least for me) that I need to sit quietly and take my time. I liked the app and these nonograms. After finishing the first puzzle, I realized the app times you and displays your time for each level. I did not care about the time, I just glad I finished!
I definitely can recommend nonograms for those who like puzzles. A couple more things about the app; there is an undo button and a very, very, very helpful check button which will show you what is wrong. If you need to you can rotate the nonogram and finally there is a solve completely option but that is no fun.
Finally you can create your own nonograms within the app. This is a solid app and one that will keep you busy for quite a while. Did I say there are no ads?
