A fun and entertaining pirate tower defense game from Super Hippo Studios.

It is 1705, in the Caribbean and you have found a powerful magic relic…can you defense yourself from those who want it back? Pirate Legends TD is a fun, whimsical pirate themed tower defense game. I am not a big fan of tower defense games, but I like this one-it is goofy and has a lot going on.

If you are familiar with tower defense games, you will not have any problems with this game. If you are new to this genre, the game provides plenty of hints and information to help you get started. When you select a level, you will be able to select your difficulty and of course set up your towers before the enemy waves begin. There are only certain places on the board you can place towers. You can speed up the action or pause the game if needed. As you destroy the enemy waves, you will earn coins which you can be used to upgrade or purchase more towers or allies.

There is a lot of content in the game and a lot of options given to the player, which could be a bit confusing to newbies. The game has 3 types of currency: coins, toes, and anchors. I will not try to explain each one but you will earn them as you go along. These can use used to purchase different items, upgrades, weapons, etc. You can of course purchase more of these via in-app purchases with real money.

Regarding defenses, there are four main towers players begin with, 2 special cannons they can use, various allies they can hire, 5 different flying heroes they can purchase to provide additional air support, and finally 5 special items such as the kraken they can summon. Like I said there is a lot of content in the game. This adds to the fun since you can use a variety of different tactics to defeat the oncoming waves of enemies. If you need more information on them, you will need to head over to Prince Kingston’ Kingsley III area or PappaHappy Bamboo JuJuShack.

All of these items though cost (in-game) money so you need to be careful in what you choose to use. I take the patient approach to games like this. I work hard in saving up my money (in-game) so I do not have to spend any real money. The game will ask you about purchasing these items or spending some real money quite a bit.

This is a free game and there are ads in between the battles which I did not find too annoying. I did find the text a bit small on my phone but I was able to find everything I needed. Despite these items, I still enjoyed the game very much.

Pirate Legends TD is fun and a very enjoyable tower defense game, with great graphics and plenty of pirate action.
