A great sci-fi endless runner game with tons of content
Glidefire is a sci-fi themed endless runner game with lots to keep you going. Your mission with any endless runner game is that you need to go as far as you can before you are killed. You need to avoid obstacles and collect as many energy packs as you go.
The game is available for both Android and iOS. I played the Android version for this review.
When you first start the game, you go through a nicely done tutorial to show you how to move your glider, what types of obstacles you will face, energy, crystals and so on.
This is a free app with a small ad on the bottom of the screen but only when you are in the menu area. The app does have in-app purchases for energy or crystals but there is no annoying reminder about making purchases. In the game, you collect energy as you travel and crystals, but they are harder to get.
With energy you can use it to purchase more heroes and upgrades, while you can use crystals for a huge variety of items, upgrades, etc. One thing you can use them for is to revive yourself after you died so you can keep your process and energy collected.
Two things stood out to me in the game, first is the graphics. The game looks and plays great. I really got into the sci-fi of the game. I was impressed with the graphics, animations, overall theme, and design of the game. The second thing is the game setup. The developers took some time to really put some content into the game.
The game has the following sections:
- Armory – here you get additional heroes and gliders, each with different abilities to help you survive
- Missions – once you complete all stages, then you will unlock this section in endless fighter mode
- Friends – can challenge Facebook friends
- Shop – get more energy and crystals
- Settings – here you can redo the tutorial, get more written explanation of things, adjust touch sensitivity, set languages and more.
The game also provides statistics at the end of each round so you can see how well you did. Overall there is a lot of content in the game and for those that play long term, plenty to keep you interested.
When you are ready to play, hit the glide button. You will get a map of the different stages you will need to complete. The areas in green you are free to play. It should be noted, that these stages need to be done in order.
Glidefire is a very well done endless runner game. With great graphics, lots of upgrades and options there is plenty to keep you going. If you enjoy endless runner type games, Glidefire should be on your list to try.
