An excellent and complete race teaming management game.
If you enjoy car racing, managing and growing your own team, and have patience, then you need to try Motorsport Manager from Christian West.
My first impressions of the game are wow- very impressive. This is not a fast game and is definitely one you will savor over time. There is some racing but really this is a game for people who enjoy simulations and team management. I am not a big race car fan but I found myself really getting into the game.
I played the game on my iPad mini and it crashed a couple of times. Overall the app is well put together and do not have any problem recommending it. This review is not going to be complete, why? There is so much in the game that words will not do it justice.
Your job in Motorsport Manager is have the best racing team. How do you do that? Have the better drivers, great support staff, the facilities, a great car, and finally money. Start off with a balance of $1.5 M but you need to hire staff, deal with sponsors, get equipment etc. This is your team, so you need to deal with every aspect of it.
If you need help, Nigel will be available to provide general information. On the main screen you get a snapshot of how your team is doing and access to the 5 key areas of your team:
- Drivers – statistics of the 2 active drivers
- Young drivers – here you can develop new drivers for the future
- Car Development – here you deal with the staff working on the car. You can move the staff around to different divisions to help performance areas such as power, acceleration, top speed, and more.
- Headquarters – need to upgrade this to allow for more staff
- Engineers – information on the guys that are working on your team
The biggest component in the game is dealing with the staff you have. Who do you hire, fire, renew? Each person has his own set of strengths and weaknesses and you need to find the right mix. It will take you a while to review everything you have before you even participate in a race!
Once you are ready to race, then you get the manage your drivers- when do they pit? which tires to use? To success, you need to win races, get sponsors, fan, increase your popularity and more.
I recommend you take a look at the official trailer below, it does a good job showing you all of the aspects of the game. Motorsport Manager is a game you can sink your teeth into and really get involved in all aspects of running a successful racing team. You do not need to know anything about racing; I do not know and one of my drivers came in 2nd on his first qualifying race. So are you ready to run your own motorsport team?
