Tribeway from Ittiam Systems Pte Ltd, is an interesting new app for Android devices, where users can quickly and easily share media but the neat thing is they can interact in real time. Tribeway allows users to send photos, chat, instant message, like and share images, all on their mobile device.
The app is free and can be download from Google Play.
One of the first questions I had was why the name Tribeway. Well if you head over to their website and check out the FAQ, this is what they say:
“A tribe is a session between two or more people where they converse with each other in real time and enjoy a shared experience around shared digital content. Content includes pictures that they have shot before or are actually shooting in real time, as they converse.”
The power of the app is that you can converse with almost anyone around the world and create groups of friends, as long as they are part of the Tribeway network. As I was reviewing the app, I had a hard time finding new friends, so I just wandered around and check out what others had shared.
The app is very simple to you and the layout makes it easy to find what you need. The app has recognizable icons on the top and bottom of the screen (in portrait mode) to all of the major features. When you first begin you will need to setup an account and work on your profile.
When you first get started, you will see a shared slideshow (called a Trail) on how to use the app and its features. I highly recommend you go through this first. After that there are 3 main areas: trails from around the globe, featured trails, and then yours (viewed and created).
Now the main sharing features of the app are:
- Sharing photos
- Messaging
- Call Xpress – voice call with in-call one touch selfies
- Share and talk – share and interact live with your friends and photos
- Snap and talk – share photos as you take them
I was curious about how much data would this app use, since you are online sharing photos, etc. On their website the developers comment about this, saying not much data will be used, but do not provide a lot of details.
Overall this is a neat app and a cool concept. Being able to share photos, interact, and chat all at the same time. This is definitely an app for groups of friends to use to help stay connected. It will be interesting to see how the app and its network grow over the coming months and years. Are you ready to share in real time?
