We are now living in the age of computers. A lot has changed since I was a kid and now people depend so much, on a daily basis with computers. When your computer crashes or goes down, we simply cannot accomplish many of out essential tasks. Because of this, it is critical to perform constant maintenance on your computer, just as you would your car.
Computers are very complicated pieces of technology. A lot goes into making them. The more you know about them, the easier they will be to maintain. (I enjoy working with computers and have a pretty good knowledge on how to fix them- this is why everyone calls me!) With all of the information we have on computers, what can we do to keep them running smoothly? Here are some tips for keeping your computer organized.
1. Remove useless and unnecessary files
One of the reasons that many computers fall into a state of disarray is the amount of useless files that tend to accumulate over time. Some files might be from something you downloaded a long time ago, but have since stopped using. You might have many files that are filled with information that is now out of date and can be disposed of. You might even have a lot of videos that you never watch and are taking up a large portion of your computer’s memory.
These are all things that can be removed so there is less clutter on your computer. When you are finished, not only will it be easier for you to find things, you will also have much more room on your hard drive.
2. Organize the files you want to keep
Needless to say, you will not be deleting everything on your computer. There will be some files that you actually want to keep. Your task now will then become arranging these files in such a way so they are easy to find in the future when you need them. Well you can make a folder of all the things you want to keep and drop a file into it when needed. Now if you do that, you will need to make individual folders for these items. What if you want to organize some of the things you see online? Well Clipix is a tool that can help you. Head over to their site: http://www.clipix.com/QRCode for more information.
3. Backup anything important
Finally the last tip is to backup your valuable information. There are a couple of ways you can do that. You can use CDs or USB drives, and/or an external hard drive. Alternately, you may want to use many of the different cloud storage options. Any of these methods are fine, as long as the files are stored correctly and easy to access.
Keeping your digital life organized and your computer running smoothly is not hard but you need to take some time to do it every once in a while. How do you stay organized?
