A game for those that want to test their word knowledge and spelling.
Word Trace from Fufla Games is a free word jumble type game for both Android and iOS devices.
FYI: The game plays in portrait mode for those on a larger screen.
When you first start the game, you can access a quick tutorial area. In each level, you will have series of letters on the screen. You will need to move the line of letters up or down so a word forms in the outlined blocks. There is no timer and you can move the letters as many times as needed. When you have created the
desired word, the letters will highlight and you will allowed to move on to the next level.
The game has sixteen categories, such as animals, car brands, math, geography, plants, science, zoo, sports, and so one. You can play any category at any time.
Within each category there a number of different levels. Each level will need to be played in order. As I have played, I have not noticed if the overall difficulty changes as you move up levels. The game itself does not have a difficulty setting.
On each level, if you have problems, you can get a hint. Once you use the hint, I assume you will need to purchase more. Again so far, I have not needed to use it.
The game is fun and definitely could be a good tool for kids working on their spelling. I have played multiple categories and levels and did not have much trouble with many of the words. If you are a good speller or wordsmith, this game might not be that much of a challenge.
Overall there are plenty of categories and levels to keep one busy. There are a few things, I think would make the game better. I would like to see difficulty setting, create your own category that you can share online or locally, and maybe online challenges. Just some ideas.
Right now I would recommend Word Trace for your children or someone who wants to see how well they spell.
