Do you enjoy fun, casual puzzle games? Is red your favorite color? Do you enjoy playing with balls? Well then Red Ball 4 and its subsequent games are right up your alley.
Red Ball 4 is an enjoyable, free game you can play on your Android device or online. I tested the game on my Galaxy Tab S for this review.
In the game, you are a happy red ball that needs to maneuver through about sixty levels. To direct the ball, there are two large on screen arrows, to move you left or right. There is also a button in the bottom right of the screen used to jump. Unlike many similar games, you can stop the ball, change directions, and push objects. As you move through the levels, you need to collect stars.
As you move through levels, you will need to either avoid the bad, black squares or squish them. If you do, you will earn more points. Levels will need to be played in order and you will need to earn gold crowns in enough levels to unlock the next section. Some levels are quick and easy, while others will take a few minutes to complete. You also need to avoid the water- you land in it, you will drown and lose a life.
The hardest thing I found was jumping. In many spots, you will need to get enough momentum to make it. Practice makes perfect.
The games does have some customization – there are eight different types of balls you can use. To use a different ball, you will need to unlock it via an achievement. The game is free and supported by a full screen ad between levels. I personally do not like these types of ads but at least when you are playing you are not hounded by them.
Overall Red Ball is a cute game and pretty easy to play. This is definitely a family friendly game that will keep you busy for a while.
