You are a young wizard and your job is to destroy all of the monsters that you will face in the game Whack Magic. This is a free game for both Android and iOS. I tested the Android version for this review.
The game has a relatively simple setup but is fast paced and might tire you out! There are 80 levels; each comprises of a 3×3 grid. Monsters will randomly appear on the grid. You need to destroy them as they do. Now for some monsters you will need to tap the screen to destroy, some you will need to swipe, some you will need to hold them down for a certain amount of time. Having to deal with each monster differently adds to the fun and stress of the game.
As you progress, you will earn coins. You can use these coins in the shop for more equipment. You can also purchase coins via real coins (IAPs). In addition to equipment, there are two other items you need to know about. While you play the Magic ball (in the bottom left corner) will power up; when it is full you can release its special skill. Finally in the bottom right corner there is a key. Once you have collected enough keys, you will unlock Fever time, where you can earn free coins.
Now these monsters do fight back. The longer you take to attack them, the more they will attack you, so you need to be quick. On each level you can earn up to three stars and you can of course replay any level. Levels need to be played in order.
Game is organized into the following sections:
- Game
- Help section – provides screenshots and some details on what to do
- Book – shows you the monsters that you have encountered
- Settings – can turn music, etc on/off but you can reset your progress to start over
Whack Magic is a fun and entertaining game. You will be doing a lot of tapping or whacking in the game. You can pause it if needed but once you hit start, the monsters start appearing! This is a good game and one that I hope the developers will add more levels to it soon.
