When I was actively dating, we did not have the technology we have today. You had to use the phone or actually talk to someone to meet them or seek a date. Well times are changing.
Today I am looking at Masked. This free Android app allows you to connect with new people somewhat privately.
After downloading the app, you will need to create account and provide a mobile number. This number is not just to register your account. After your account is setup you will need create a profile. Your profile will have your name, interest, a short bio. and photo. You need to provide a photo, so if you do not want to, put a photo of your cat.
This is a very basic app. The user interface is very basic and has a no-frills look. The app allows:
- Discover – here is where you will search for new friends. You can filter your results by ages, when last online, genre
- Chat – the app’s online chat section.
- Invitations – when someone contacts you, those messages will be located here.
So how does it work? You go through the profiles, click on one that interests you and then send an invite to that person. You cannot contact a person directly, which is a nice feature. The person will need to approve that invitation before any chatting to occur.
That is pretty much it. As I mentioned, the system is pretty straight forward with a clean and minimal interact. There is not a lot to the app and if I were actively dating, I would like to see some more features in the app, such as location, interests, maybe a video chat option.
So do you use social media or online options to find new friends? If so, what apps do you use or recommend?
