Music may not be the first thing you think about when you play a game, but its impact on the overall experience is quickly apparent. The following games are worth playing because of the music; the gameplay is much better with music. This list also features a couple of games that are based around music notes, but they aren’t that great.

Musiverse

Select different types of music and race a spaceship through a well-designed course in Musiverse. The music sets the mood, while the space highway filled with block-shaped rewards tests your reflexes. Tap the screen to change lanes and score as much points as possible.

Groove Coaster 2

The first thing I noticed about Groove Coaster 2 was its cool menu selection fonts and text which are minimalist. The sound effects for each selection and in-game interactions are well-designed. The in-game sound effects occur when you tap or hold the screen and successfully hit the target. The background music creates the perfect environment for this roller-coaster-like game.

Noah’s Bottle

Noah’s Bottle is a cute game with an unexplainable calibrating opening where bars fall to the bottom of the screen and a note is repeated until you press quit. A story unfolds with vividly colored storyboards with text. It explains how the world was destroyed by a volcano. Afterward, you are left floating in water with the burning mountain in the background. Tap the bottle to see the maiden, then tap the maiden.Select start to reach the songs list. Clear the listed songs. There’s only one, but you can import your own songs. When the song plays, randomly tap the screen to create a rhythm to earn praise. The song lasts a couple of minutes.

Music Runner

Wow. This game is awesome. An exciting soundtrack plays as you travel through a square course that changes directions at sharp 90 degree angles. The vertical turns are especially exciting.

SongArc

In this game, the goal is to match the beat of the falling notes, but it’s easier to tap the screen when the notes reach the arc. Load songs from the Internet, and listen to them while trying to catch all the falling notes. You can also create sheets with the sheet creator. Start by downloading a music sheet from an artist. Several artists are available in this app including Wendy Starland, RapScallions, and Jonathan M. Ochmann. Most artists have quick links to their MP3 downloads if you like their music.

The Best Game is…

Music Runner. It is exciting, fun, and challenging. Try to complete the entire course without quitting. If you want to play a bit longer, try the next level. Otherwise, save the game for another time. It has high replayability.
