Today I was asked to look at a different sort of app – ScratchBack. ScratchBack is a UK based games that is currently free on iOS and should be coming to Android shortly.
This game is based on a ” popular lottery scratch card” game. The app is easy to use and play but I recommend you go through all of the directions and information before you get involved. Right now I would recommend this app for just our UK readers since all earnings are in British Pounds. 🙂
When you first start off, the app asks you to login via Facebook or play as a guest. If you login via Facebook, you will earn some coins and Play Chips. Now the key to playing the final scratch-off game is the Play Chips. No Chips = No Play. 🙂
Now to earn chips, you need to go through some ads. The app is setup into four packages. Each package has a set of different advertising tasks, such as taking a survey of McDonalds vs Burger King (this will net you 19 chips), sign up for GameFly (this will net you 108 chips), and so on. I have seen similar models on Facebook games. You need to complete the assigned tasks and then you will be credited with a certain number of chips.
Overall this advertising system will work but personally I do not like it. For the ads I checked, they wanted an email address and you had to go through a series of questions or videos, etc, which takes time. When you are done, had to wait/hope you got the credits you deserve. The app even warns you (You must complete the entire advertisement to get Play Chips. If the Play Chips don’t appear, simply restart the app.) I understand the system, I just do not like it.
Once you get past the ads and built up some chips you can then play the game, which is a scratch off game. In the game you need to match three to win. Winning a game gets you coins. So once you earn over 100 coins – you can earn a coupon reward, which will be emailed to you. Now if you have 1000 coins you will earn 2 British Pounds or about $2.88 USD which you will get via Paypal.
I did not play the game long enough to earn any real money. I am not sure this game is for everyone, but if you enjoy this type of game and do not mind going through the ads (which are similar to Facebook) then ScratchBack might be for you. You never know you might earn a few bucks.
