Did you ever want to be a bartender? Bartending is probably one of the more interesting careers out there. Never having been a bartender, it seems to me that you need to remember a lot. There are so many different types of drinks and you never see a bartender going through a recipe book at the bar.
Well with BarSim, you can be a bartender on your mobile device. After playing around with the game for I while, I was quite impressed. The game has a lot of depth and detail. I will try to describe it but this is a game I recommend you download and experience for yourself.
The game has 3 modes:
- Practice – here you learn to make the drinks
- Career – here you play to improve your skills and work your way up and earn experience
- Head to Head – here you can play online vs other would-be bartenders
You will need to create an account when you first start. You can play as a guest but you are limited in what you can do. In the game you will need to make drinks, quickly and correctly. Unfortunately you cannot taste your creations! 🙂
The game has a nice tutorial to explain how things are laid out and setup. There is a lot so you need to know, so pay attention. The game is not graphic intensive; the game layout is setup so you can make virtual drinks. The neat thing about the game is that you will need to physically move your phone around to scoop ice, shake, stir, muddle, and more. Not sure what these are? you will after playing the game.
This game definitely will frustrate you and practice is recommended, unless you are a natural bartender. I found that I was pretty slow myself.
In practice mode you will find recipes, and then practice them- the game will show you how and then you can try it yourself. As you do it, the game will give you updates such as you under poured that liquor. Yes the timer is going while you do this so do not get too stressed like me.
I decided to make my favorite a frozen margarita. Following the tutorial was easy but when it was my time to do it, well lets say I did not make any tips.
The game is a lot of fun and if you enjoy simulations, you will like this game. There is a lot packed into this game, making it definitely worth your time. There is a lot to do and a lot to practice. Once you get somewhat decent at it, then you can work on the career mode and then when you are ready go online and compete against other would be bartenders.
I enjoy a good drink occasional, but after playing this game I decide, I enjoy consuming the drinks rather than make them!
