We live in a very “social” oriented society and by “social” I mean social media. Everything these days is online. What people are doing, saying, buying, etc. Some is good but some is not so good. Today I am looking at Wave, a new social network app for events. This app is free to download and currently only available on iOS devices.
Before I go into the features of this app, just a few thoughts about Wave. The key to Wave is that it is a network. Just like Facebook, Twitter, etc for a network to work, folks need to be on it. Right now I do not have any data on its overall usage but if you want to use this app for your events, your friends need to be part of the network. This is the issue all social networking apps/services face.
One thing that this app has going for it, is that you can create an account with Facebook. By using Facebook, you can then invite your friends (assuming they are on Facebook also) to your event and of course this app. You can also share on Facebook. With this integration, it definitely should help with the spreading of Waves.
Ok, on to the features.
Once you download the app, you will create an account. The best way is to use Facebook, so you can easily connect to your Facebook friends. Now it is time is to create a Wave. A Wave is an event- so put in a title, time, date, location, etc. You can make your Wave (event) private or public. If you make it public, then other Wave users will be able to see it online.
After the event is created, you will be able to invite others to attend. Once your event begins or is over, users can upload images or videos from the event. Users can chat amongst themselves and there is a guest list for all who are coming.
Overall the app is pretty straight forward and easy to use. The interface is clean and easy to read.
Now if you are looking for something to do, you can search the public waves that are out there and meet some new friends. Finally I should mention since Wave focuses around events with images and videos, you can share those items on Instagram too from inside the app.
