Does anyone send cards or postcards anymore? I know that I have not in quite a long time. I remember when we took family trips we would look for a neat picture postcard to send to our friends and family back home. With the advent of cellphones and the Internet, this has really disappeared.
Well today I am looking that app/service MyPostcard which allows you to create and send postcards or greeting cards from your mobile device. The app is free for both Android and iOS devices but there is a cost associated with sending cards.
After you download the app, you will need to make an account, either via Facebook or email address. As I mentioned, there is a cost associated with sending out the cards so you can purchase credits ahead of time rather than pay every time you send a card. You can even earn credits by getting friends or family to sign up and use the service.
Within the app you can either create a postcard or a greeting card. For both there are ten styles you can choose from, such as classic, instant, skyscraper, panorama, landscape, and more.
The procedure on how to create a postcard or greeting card is pretty much the same:
- chose product
- select photo(s)
- edit, crop, mark up photo(s)
- add text
- preview and send.
Overall the process is pretty straight forward. For each step there are plenty of options and the ability to totally customize your card. You can take a new photo or use one in your gallery. You can add up to 800 characters of text in the main section of each card. You can preview and edit anything, even save it as a draft before you send it out.
When you are ready to send it out, the app will show you the costs associated with the various options you used or can use with that card- so no surprise costs!
In addition to these customized cards, you can create cards from 2000 design templates or purchase prints of your photos.
Now that you understand the service, how is the app? I tested this on my Android device and it ran well. The app layout and design are well done and I was creating custom postcards quickly. The menu system and options within the app are easy to find and follow. The developers have really made it easy to create custom photo cards on the go. Since this is a service you can also access your account and the system online.
MyPostcard is a neat service that allows you to send personalized greetings from your mobile device to anywhere in the world. It is easy to use and the costs seem reasonable. So if you are looking for a different way to share your photos, then MyPostcard might be it.
