Yuemey from Reachness LLC is a social networking app that is currently available for iOS devices only. This new app is open to everyone but is specifically aimed at Millennials.
For those you need some clarification, millennials are also known as Generation Y and were generally born in the early 1980s through the mid-1990s to early 2000s. This generation is generally marked by an increased use and familiarity with communications, media, and digital technologies. (Wikipedia)
After downloading the app, you will need to of course, create an account. You can use Facebook, Instagram, or email to do this. You can use the app on an iPhone or iPad but it only use portrait mode. (I was using my iPad).
The app is broken down into 5 sections:
- Home or your profile
- Groups
- Messages
- Search (people or groups)
- Notifications
The first thing you need to do is work on your profile. The developer describes the app as “Yuemey makes navigating career relationships natural and easy.” If that is the case, then you will make to make sure your profile is complete and looks professional. On your profile you can add photos, provide some information on your “story”, add a video or inspirational quote, list skills or interests, etc.
The app also gives you a username, somewhat like Twitter. It appears you can edit it-this too is something to important to consider.
Once your profile is done, then it is time to find some groups to join. You can also create groups if you like. After you have you joined some groups and made connections, you can then of course chat within the app.
Overall the app is easy to use and setting up a profile is easy. Yuemey is geared to create a more social and visual type profile, then the traditional resume. Overall this is an interesting idea and a different sort of take on networking. As with any networking type app, the users make or break it. Right now I have no idea how big the user database is. The app has gotten positive reviews from some major players so it will be interesting to see how it developers.
